China Airlines Offices Prague
For its new direct flight between Prague and Taipei, Taiwan's state-owned flag carrier China Airlines (not to be confused with the Chinese carrier Air China) established its new offices at Prague's Václav Havel airport.
Since it was not possible to change any of the interiors such as surface materials or lights, furniture was the tool to reflect the company's identity and create a suitable working environment. A balance was struck between custom designed furniture on one side and quickly available, affordable commercial furniture - such as Ikea rolling containers - on the other.
The various details reflect the company's colors: dark blue and various shades of pink against a white background. Carpented table boards were mounted on custom, pink sprayed legs. The storage shelf manufacturer was asked to add dark blue background panels behind the white perforated shelf doors.
As for materials, steel was a clear choice for the various shelves and cabinets, as it is the most popular Taiwanese (not only) furniture material and also easily color adjustable.
It is complemented by plastic chairs and custom designed birch plywood tables, including a 3,6m long conference table with a double edge for stowing away mobile phones so they don't attract attention during meetings.
The space being limited, subtle steel shelves are being used to separate individual workplaces.
